Fee Protection
Professional Fee Protection: insurance cover against the costs of protecting your interests during H M Revenue & Customs enquires and disputes.
Why does my business need protection?
The simple answer is that you need protection against random investigations by H M Revenue & Customs.
Until recently the Tax and VAT authorities had to give reason for mounting an investigation into your business or personal affairs – now they don’t.
Random selection means neither you, or Tiffin Green will know why you have been selected for an investigation. Even if the investigation finds nothing to pay, the time and effort involved can incur professional fees as well as being very stressful and damaging to your business.
Plus, don’t forget that the professional fees incurred to fight your case can amount to more than any tax that may be due. At the very least an investigation distracts you from what you do best – running your business.
What Can I Do?
We recognise the threat you face, that’s why we recommend that you take out Fee Protection insurance. Tiffin Green has operated a scheme through the market leaders CCH for a number of years.
The annual premium is based on the size of your business and includes insurance premium tax and a small arrangement fee charge, and the good news is this service is exempt from VAT. Our scheme runs from the 1 May – 30 April however, you may join the scheme at any time by paying a pro-rata payment.
